Declaration in defense of Venezuela’s bolivarian democracy by Le Collectif des mouvements sociaux québécois amis de la CELAC y de ALBA-TCP
We condemn the recent violent, unconstitutional, and counterrevolutionary actions that various of their leaders say have the goal of overthrowing the democratically elected president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and that are in keeping with the imperial strategy of trying to snatch from the Venezuelan people their sovereign and unified control of their oil and energy resources.
In light of the plethora of evidence of the presence in Venezuela of paramilitaries sponsored by the petty despot ex-president of Colombia Álvaro Uribe Vélez, narcotraffickers, and elements of the “foreign policy establishment” of the United States, we also reiterate our condemnation of the US government’s intervention in this new attempt at destabilization and coup d’état that in many of its details echoes the “coup of 47 hours” of April 2002 against the then President Hugo Chávez Frías.
We reaffirm our support for Venezuela’s outstanding participatory democracy, just as we do for the Government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, whose revolutionary bolivarian, chavista and anti-imperialist process, perfectible though it may be, continues to inspire millions of people in the entire continent, and in the world.
The legacy of “comandante” Hugo Chávez is an asset for the struggles of all humanity!
All in defense of the legitimate Government of the Venezuelan Worker President, Nicolás Maduro!
Venezuela and Latin America and the Caribbean will continue being a territory of Peace and Social Justice!
¡The fascist terrorism against Venezuela will not pass!
